Introduction

In line with the policy of HEC, the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) has been established in University of Malakand on March 9, 2012. It aims to provide strategic and operational support to the University’s research activities and have a central role in facilitating the University’s research outcomes. ORIC is developing collaborative working environments among UOM researchers, industry partners and funding agencies and is promoting research relevant to socio-economic needs in the local scenario.

University of Malakand is situated in rural area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is almost a central point of Malakand Division surrounded by all the seven districts and thus is very much accessible. The industries in surrounding include Silk & Cottage, Gemstone, Hoteling & Tourism, Pharmaceutical, Cosmetics, Honey and Food Industry. Agriculture is the soul of the area as the soil is very fertile and many people are engaged with agriculture and gardening. The growth of Industry as well as the research will necessarily depend on successful University & Industry Partnership as research is the core area of university and industries transforms these researches into practice. It is one of the basic objectives of ORIC to bridge the gap between the university research and the industries so that it should contribute towards socio-economic growth of the local area and ultimately of the country. ORIC is committed to play a central role in facilitating the University Industry linkages for commercialization of research.
