TiE Islamabad Business Plan Competition (TIBPC) was launched in collaboration with HEC and Rice University Business Plan Competition (USA). The competition was part of Asia’s Qualifying Round for Rice University Business Plan Competition (USA), the world largest and prestigious business plan competition. National ICT R&D Fund was the exclusive sponsor of the competition. More than 200 teams from 36 universities across 16 cities from all over the country participated in the competition. The final round had 13 finalists with three teams qualifying for the Regional Finale in Brussels, Belgium. Team Daalai, from Malakand University, was one of the 13 finalists, and finished first in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 7th in Pakistan.
The Grand Finale of TiE International Business Plan Competition (TIBPC) was held at Marriott Islamabad. The prestigious event had a gathering of over a hundred people with participants coming in from all over the country. Several of the top entrepreneurs and leading professionals were part of the panel of judges for the competition. Ambassador of USA H.E. Richard Hoagland, Chaudhry Faisal Mushtaq Patron TiE & CEO Roots Millennium Schools and Eng. Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gillani Executive Director HEC), Islamabad were amongst the high profile dignitaries that attended the event.
This success for Malakand University was a result of the successful orientation session organised by ORIC for this competition, in which resource person Mr. Fazli Subhan motivated the students for the competition and gave a lecture on how to prepare the perfect business plan. His relentless efforts and inspiring behaviour gave the spur to make 6 teams, out of which Daalai moved on to the Grand Finale.
Ms. Gul-e-Rukhsar (First Semester English Student) was the team leader of Daalai. Mr. Anwar ul Haq, (PhD Student Department of Computer Science), Mr. Asif Khan (BBA 7th Semester Student), Mr. Naveed Khan (BBA 5th Semester Student) formed the rest of team. The students were very happy with the enriching experience they had during the competition and were very much looking forward to participating in such activities in the future.
