University of Malakand Ranks No 2 in Province and 13 in Country in PCST Ranking of R&D Organizations
Pakistan Council for Science and Technology (PCST) is mandated to advise the Government on the development of Science and Technology at the national level. The Council is involved in S&T Policy making, planning, implementation and in carrying out policy studies. PCST is also the secretariat of National Commission of Science and Technology (NCST), headed by the Prime Minister (which takes the major decisions for the development of S&T).
PCST recently published its ranking of R&D organizations in the country. University of Malakand ranked 2nd in the province, just one point below University of Engineering & Technology Peshawar and ranked 13th overall in the country. ORIC at University of Malakand was responsible for compiling data and reports for submission to PCST. The Honourable Vice Chancellor congratulated all of the University for this achievement and stated that this should be considered as the begining of greater achievements and everyone should work even harder. He also appreciated the efforts of Prof. Dr. Rashid Ahmad, and ORIC team for making this possible by compiling and submmitting reports and data on time.
As a part of the ongoing efforts of faculty members to promote quality research in the Department of CS & IT, a Network Systems & Security Research Group (NSSRG). The group's prime objective is to provide a stimulating research environment for network and security research. In addition, to commercialise the research being done in CS & IT department, NSSRG aims to collaborate with the industry to solve real world networking problems in terms of network design, assessment, development management and services. NSSRG having a team of highly competent and energetic faculty members who works on projects that comprises a diverse range of reach, including distributed systems, Wireless and Peer-to-Peer networks, Sensor Networks, Network Security, and Network simulation and modelling. We are pleased to inform you that the HEC has notified “Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization – ORIC” at University of Malakand Vide Letter no. 20/1-83/HEC/ORIC/UMD/13, dated December 19, 2013. The University of is now eligible for enhanced overhead cost of 15% against all the HEC sponsored NRPU projects.
